Stonehenge, Mark and Nicole, Mendip, Wells, Cheddar and Duncaster Castle

Drove through the rain down to Farnham and collected our Moustache Samedi e-bikes followed by some shopping and then headed off towards Salisbury. Went past Stonehenge so stopped in just as the sun came out so spent a very pleasant, but cold few hours wandering around the large pebbles. We coincided our visit with the Spring Equinox, which must be a good omen, and there were a large number of travellers camped close to the Stones to witness the Equinox. Then on to the nearby Stonehenge Campsite.

Set off reasonably early the next day for a short drive to Salisbury to campsite about 5 miles from the Cathedral. As it was not raining we headed off excitedly on our new bikes into town and a tour of Salisbury Cathedral and the Magna Carta. Had not realized that 4 charters in the Magna Carta are still part of English law.

The next day we headed off through the heavy rain showers to Weston Super Mare to catch up with Mark and Nicole, old friends from our Malawi days. Spent the time chatting and going for walks around the town. Spent the nights free camping on the streets near the house.

After leaving Mark and Nicole headed off to Cheddar and Wells. Spent two nights at Mendip Campsite. Cycled into Wells (20km return) and visited the Wells Cathedral and the Bishops Palace.

Drove through the lovely Cheddar Gorge (home of the cheese), then stopped at Dunster Castle. Went off to Porlock Campsite and a walk through the Porlock Marsh and we were amazed at the speed of the incoming tide.
